Smoked Wings!
Football season is here, school and activities are in full swing, and some nights we just need dinner to be easy.
So this week for Dinner with L&S, we’re sharing one of our absolute favorite no-effort meals:
L&S Smoked Wings.
Our wings are fully cooked, so all you have to do is heat them up and add a side or two. Dinner can genuinely be on the table with almost no work, which does not mean we took shortcuts making them.
Choose Mild, covered in Shawn’s BBQ sauce made from scratch with smoked tomatoes, brown sugar and plenty of time and care.
Or go Spicy, made with our own Sriracha sauce from ajís fermented with garlic.
They’re a family favorite around here: no prep, no shortcuts, no fake food. Just L&S.
How to Reheat L&S Smoked Wings
Because the wings are already fully cooked, you’re simply reheating them until they’re hot throughout.
Stovetop: Place the wings in a covered pot or pan with about 2 tablespoons of water. Heat over low to medium heat, allowing them to gently steam until hot.
Oven: Place the wings in a covered baking dish with about 2 tablespoons of water and heat until warmed through. Uncover them toward the end if you’d like the outside a little drier.
Microwave: Yep. Microwave. 😂 Heat them until hot and dinner is done. Easy peasy.
Make It a Meal
Now you just need something to put next to them. Here are some of our favorite easy sides:
- Crispy potato wedges — Toss with olive oil, salt and pepper and get them into the oven first. When they’re almost done, pop in the wings to heat alongside them.
- Simple coleslaw — Especially good with the Mild BBQ wings. Cool, crunchy and a great contrast to the smoky, saucy wings.
- Corn on the cob — Butter + salt. Done. We’re pretty lucky to have a local farm growing real sweet corn for us, and when it’s in season, this is hard to beat.
- Roasted sweet potatoes — The sweetness is especially good alongside the heat of the Spicy Sriracha wings.
- A big green salad — Lettuce, tomato, cucumber and whatever dressing is already in the refrigerator. This is an easy dinner, remember. We’re not making homemade vinaigrette unless we feel like it. 😂
- Rice + avocado — Simple, filling and especially good with the Sriracha wings. The rice and avocado balance out the heat beautifully.
- Carrot & celery sticks — A wing-night classic. Add ranch or blue cheese for dipping.
- French fries — Because sometimes dinner really doesn’t need to be any more complicated than wings + fries.
Real Food Can Still Be Easy
Convenience food doesn’t have to mean highly processed food or a long list of ingredients you can’t pronounce. Sometimes it can simply mean someone else already did the cooking for you.
We smoked the wings. We made the sauces. We fermented the ají. We did the work.
You just have to heat them up and eat them.
