Good Food, Great Gatherings

The Star of the Show: Honey-Glazed Smoked Ham

Every honey-baked ham starts with a smoked ham! And when you’re starting with one of our L&S Artisan Meats smoked hams, most of the work is already done.

Our hams are carefully cured and slow-smoked, giving them that rich, delicious flavor before they ever reach your kitchen. All you need is a simple homemade honey glaze to add a sweet, sticky, caramelized finish that makes your holiday centerpiece shine.

Bone-In Leg Hams – LnS Artisan Meats

Easy Honey Glaze for Smoked Ham

5-minute prep
4 ingredients
Bone-in or boneless loin ham

Ingredients

  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

Instructions

1. Warm your ham.
Place your fully cooked L&S smoked ham in a roasting pan, cover loosely with aluminum foil, and warm in a 300°F (150°C) oven. Allow approximately 10–15 minutes per pound, depending on the size of your ham. Check the internal temperature to ensure it is properly reheated.

2. Make the honey glaze.
While your ham is warming, combine the honey, brown sugar, butter, and Dijon mustard in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir gently for 3–5 minutes until the butter has melted, the sugar has dissolved, and the glaze is smooth and glossy.

3. Score the ham.
Once your ham is warmed through, remove it from the oven. Using a sharp knife, make shallow diagonal cuts across the surface, approximately ¼ inch deep. Repeat in the opposite direction to create a diamond pattern. This gives the glaze plenty of little crevices to settle into, adding even more flavor to every slice!

4. Glaze generously.
Increase your oven temperature to 375°F (190°C). Brush the ham generously with the warm honey glaze, making sure to work it into all those freshly cut grooves.

5. Caramelize to perfection.
Return the ham to the oven, uncovered, for approximately 20–30 minutes. Brush with additional glaze every 10 minutes until the outside is golden, glossy, and beautifully caramelized. Keep a close eye on it, as the honey and sugar can burn quickly!

6. Rest, slice, and serve.
Remove your ham from the oven and let it rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing. Spoon any delicious pan juices over the slices before serving.

A Little L&S Tip

Our smoked hams are already packed with flavor, so there’s no need to overcomplicate things. The honey glaze is simply the finishing touch! For a little extra holiday flair, add a pinch of ground cloves or cinnamon to your glaze.

Whether you choose our traditional Bone-In Ham or our Boneless Loin Ham, you’ve got a delicious holiday centerpiece without spending all day in the kitchen.

Note: These warming instructions assume a fully cooked smoked ham. For reheating, USDA guidance is 140°F (60°C) for a fully cooked ham
